- Abstract
The article presents various honors and careers in the field of chemistry. Nadya Abbood from the University of Frankfurt receives the 2024 Dechema PhD Student Award for Natural Product Research for her dissertation on non-ribosomal peptide synthetases. Martin Bertau and Michael Kraft from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg are awarded the Saxon State Prize "Construction Practice of the Future" in the category of building materials for their development of a geopolymer building material. Max Crüsemann from the University of Bonn receives the 2024 Dechema Young Scientist Award for Natural Product Research for his work on Gq protein inhibitors. Syed M. Qaim from the Jülich Research Center and the University of Cologne is honored with the 2023 World Council on Isotopes President's Award for his achievements in nuclear chemistry. Leonid Sazanov from the Institute of Science and Technology Austria is awarded the Erwin Schrödinger Prize by the Austrian Academy of Sciences for his contributions to the structural biology of membrane protein complexes. Thomas Schleid from the University of Stuttgart is honored with the 2024 Khwarizmi International Award for his work on solid hydrogen carriers based on hydro-closo-borates. Hans-Christian Schmitt from the University of Würzburg receives the Ars legendi Faculty Award for Mathematics and Natural Sciences in the Chemistry category for his commitment to his teaching in physical chemistry. In terms of careers, Britta Hübner-Keese has accepted a position as a W2 professor of food chemistry, polymers, and renewable resources at the Hannover University. Maria Sokolova has been the head of the new Lise Meitner Research Group on Bacteriophages at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried since March 1, 2024. Hans-Christian Schmitt has redesigned and digitized the physical-chemical experiments at the University of Würzburg.
