- Abstract
Magnetism in two-dimensional ultra-thin materials could be used in the development of next-generation equipments and memory-storage devices. We study the transition from the normal phase to a fully polarized ferromagnetic one of a bi-dimensional hexagonal system. The calculation has been performed in the context of the Hubbard model Hamiltonian, utilizing the mean field theory approach. This phase transition has been investigated at zero temperature where magnetic phase ordering can take place and is dependent on the value of the Coulomb interaction. A comprehension of the effect should be particularly useful for the understanding of the magnetic properties, a simple yet elegant phenomenon in condensed matter physics.
