- Abstract
This article discusses the interpretation of cytomegalovirus (CMV) serology in a pregnant patient. The patient had an increase in CMV IgG levels and a decrease in Rubella IgG levels during her pregnancy. Avidity testing indicated a high likelihood of a previous CMV infection. Amniocentesis was performed, and the analysis of the amniotic fluid revealed no CMV infection in the fetus. The patient received treatment with valacyclovir to decrease the CMV viral load. The article provides information on the diagnosis and management of CMV infection during pregnancy.
