- Abstract
Presents a study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the defibrinogenating agent ancrod in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Context of limited treatment options for acute ischemic stroke and bleeding complications involved with them; Information on ancrod, a purified fraction of viper venom and its effects on blood coagulation; Conclusion that ancrod had a favorable benefit-risk profile for patients with acute ischemic stroke.
