- Abstract
The liver is a common site for primary and metastatic cancer. The vascular anatomy of this organ and its amazing regenerative capacity make it a target for aggressive regional therapy. In this review, we examine the basis for such therapies, the history of advancement in the field, and the potential for future development of novel treatments. Through this analysis of the past, present, and future of regional therapy, we intend to put in perspective the current practice of transvascular therapies for hepatic malignancies.
