- Abstract
Between October, 2004 and August, 2005, a price war between the country's major cement companies and Cementos Andino (a company that sought to protect its 9% share of the market with pricing strategies, its marketing activity and its geographical position) took place in Colombia. It is not yet clear who initiated this situation that resulted in the sale of Cementos Andino. This article is the result of research regarding this event. It uses valuation, with Montecarlo's simulation, and the game theory. This paper provides the analysis of three fundamental aspects of this situation: 1) the possible causes of the sale of Cementos Andino, 2) the strategic thought in an oligopoly, and 3) the role of the government in these sectors.
