- Abstract
The article provides information on saber-toothed cats. The groups of sabre-toothed marsupials are the Thylacosmilus, Machaeroidines, and Apataelurus. The three families of sabre-tooth are the Nimravidae, Barbourofelidae, and Felidae. The typical sabre-tooth cat had a longer neck, shorter back and stronger front limbs than recent felids. Smilodon, Homotherium and Machairodus were the top predators of their respective ecosystems.
