- Authors
Abel, Richard
- Abstract
The article provides information on the meaning of cinema history as featured in the book "French Cinema," by Richard Abel. He labels the book a revisionist history and mentions Jean Mitry's definition of what should be the proper history of cinema. It is to mention the cinema industry's history, its technologies, aesthetic structures and systems of expression all bonded together by the forces of the psychosocial, economic and cultural order. Abel realizes that the structure of his book stays on a model of historical analysis which is inclined to classify the simultaneous histories into autonomous categories.
