- Abstract
The article focuses on the detection of trackline probability of Antarctic minke whales using trackline Buckland Turnock (BT) mode experiments on the International Whaling Commission-Southern Ocean Whale and Ecosystem Research (IWC-SOWER) cruises survey from 2005 to 2008. It reveals that the detection probability of the trackline was estimated to be 0.69 and 0.66 in 2005 to 2006 while 0.40 and 0.35 in 2007 and 2008, which is due to the interyear difference of weather conditions. It adds that school size as an essential factor that affects the probability of detection and detectability.
