- Abstract
An essay is presented which examines nationalistic undertones in media coverage of the Pullman Strike of 1894. Particular focus is given to the identification of the strikers as foreigners contrasted with the patriotism connected with the militias and troops involved. The exploitation of public fears of mobs, aliens, and anarchy within contemporary news stories is explored.
