Learning from job advertisements for New Zealand special librarians.
- Authors
Ralph, Gillian; Sibthorpe, Julie
- Abstract
Job advertisements applicable to special librarians in New Zealand were studied over a two year period from 2007 to 2009. The results of this study are compared to other similar studies of job advertisements conducted at other times and in other regions of the world. Key findings include confirmation of Wellington-based Government positions as being the most common location of special librarians in New Zealand, an expanding variety of position titles, and a current listing of the skills and competencies are being requested from this sector of New Zealand's Information and Library profession.
