- Title
Therole of a DCP on the DDIT.
- Abstract
The article discusses the role of a Dental Care Professional (DCP) on the Defence Dental Identification Team (DDIT) in forensic odontology. The DCPs on the team are responsible for tasks such as assigning radiographs to patients, providing original copies of dental records, labeling study models and dentures, and annotating rotations and tooth surface loss. The team's primary goal is to give a name to unknown individuals and assist in disaster victim identification. The article emphasizes that this role is not suitable for everyone and requires specialized training and registration with professional organizations. The DCPs also play a role in promoting the importance of accurate dental charting and record keeping in general dental practice.
