- Abstract
The article focuses on the model organism (mod) complementary program of U.S. National Human Genome Research Institute for its Encyclopedia of DNA elements (ENCODE) project. It states that modENCODE aims to investigate the annotation of Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster genomes. It mentions that the team focusing in D. melanogaster has discovered nine chromatin, while the C. elegans team discovered 1,600 new genes which will be useful to further studies.
