- Title
Inuit Accordion Music--A Better Kept Secret.
- Authors
Hiscott, Jim
- Abstract
The article focuses on the button accordion music of the Inuit people of Arctic Canada. Accordion music has been brought by European and American whaling crews to the northern part of the country until the Inuit people became interested in playing button accordions. Most Inuit accordion players from the region like Simeonie Keenaianak and Andrew Atagotaaluk have been playing the musical instrument since childhood. The need for more music recording efforts to preserve the accordion music of the Inuit people is also discussed.
