- Abstract
The article presents information about indigenous woman Catherine Moignon Patenaude Simpson from Canada. It mentions that Simpson's ancestry reflects the diversity of the people of what became Canada; her father was Haudenosaunee, her mother Métis and her language was Cree; and also mentions that Haudenosaunee men were employed by the fur companies as they were expert voyageurs, hunters and trappers, and they also worked as interpreters and guides. It mentions Catherine and her husband met the hapless travelers at Fort Pitt, Pennsylvania in April 1863.
