In this article, the author makes the argument why Canada needs a museum of immigration. She examines the history of immigration policies and practices in Canada, including the repeal of the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1947, the introduction of multiculturalism policy in 1971 and how historically racism has impacted the policies. The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, is also discussed.
