- Abstract
The article focuses on John A. Macdonald, a Canadian lawyer and former Prime Minister, and discusses his relationship with and popularity in Québec, from 1867 until his death in 1891. According to the article, Macdonald's views on protectionism resonated with the people of Québec. The author notes Macdonald's respect for French Canada and examines statistics from elections held in Québec from 1867 to 1891 provided by the Canadian Parliament. The Canadian Confederation and Edward Blake, former Prime Minister of Ontario, are also mentioned.
