The article explores the elements of Rationalism in French architecture. It discusses the lack of consistency in the Rationalist tradition in French architecture. An overview of the proliferation of Rationalist trends in France in the 1950-1960, the era after the Second World War, is presented. It outlines the failure of few Rationalist practitioners to succeed during the 1990-2000 period when accelerated modernisation emerged.
