- Abstract
The article presents arguments against a "Medical Journal of Australia" editorial and reported findings in two randomised controlled trials (RCTs) on the ineffectivity of vertebroplasty in the treatment of acute osteoporotic vertebral fractures. It explains the contradiction in the findings as patients experienced pain relief with their treatments due to an inappropriate patient sampling in the RCTs of patients with already healed fractures. These findings call for further research to verify the efficacy of vertebroplasty in the discussed setting.
