- Abstract
The article discusses support for the government of Russian President Vladimir Putin by Western European far-right political parties. Parties discussed include France's National Front (FN), Austria's Freedom Party (FPÖ), and Great Britain's UK Independence Party (UKIP). Topics addressed include the opinion of FN leader Marine Le Pen that favored Russia's 2014 intervention in Ukraine, far-right Euroskeptic opposition to the European Union (EU), and anti-American sentiment in far-right Western European parties. The Russian government's support for anti-gay views is said to mirror that of most right-wing political parties in Western Europe.
