- Abstract
The article reports on alliance talks launched among Nissan Motor Co., General Motors Corp. (GM) and Renault SA. The three automobile manufacturers are studying a plan calling for Nissan and Renault to acquire a combined stake of up to 20 percent in GM. GM is having difficulties in streamlining personnel and equipment. The alliance would be detrimental to the long-term goal of Toyota Motor Co. to become the number 1 automobile maker.
