A literary criticism of Heinrich Heine's unfinished novel "The Rabbi of Bacherach" is presented. Topics discussed include the portrayal of the end of Judaism, how the unfinished tale interrupted the Jewish history and its trajectory, and a comparison between Heine's tale and the book "The Origin of the German Mourning Play" by Walter Benjamin.
