- Abstract
The article focuses on philosophical idea Tizhi developed by scholar Tu Wei-ming to characterize knowledge focused by Confucians and Neo-Confucian philosophers in Ming and Song periods. Topics discussed include distinction between knowledge of hearing and seeing, coining term tizhi in a theory of zhi knowledge, and need of expanding scope of epistemology to provide account of knowledge type.
