CALCULATIONS based on recent measurements of the distribution of 137Cs in the St George's Channel show that the residual (non-tidal) flow is slightly lower than previous indirect estimates suggested. The contribution of turbulent mixing to the transport of dissolved and particulate material in these waters may also be calculated directly from caesium measurements.
