- Abstract
The casting technique (lost wax technique), which enables us to make mass production in the art of jewellery, and the production stages of the product produced with this technique are discussed in this study. The purpose of the research; The history of the jewelry casting technique, the stages applied while producing with the jewelry casting technique, and the tools used. In addition, the materials, motifs and decoration types used in the jewelry produced with the casting technique were examined with the observation form. Information about the application stages of casting technique, the materials and methods used in casting were obtained through on-site observations and examinations by applying the method of interviewing the craftsmen in a casting workshop. These observations and examinations were documented by taking photographs and videos, and information was supported by digital and printed resource research. Lost candle technique; It consists of creating a model of the desired model from wax or resin material, then covering this model with a plaster, freezing the plaster around the wax model, heating the mold and melting and disappearing the wax model. The technique was given this name because of the melting of the wax. Molten metal is poured into the gap left by the lost candle in the mold. After the metal freezes and solidifies, cleaning and leveling operations are carried out from the plaster. The desired model is obtained. If a large number is desired, the number of products can be increased by printing candle models of the same model. Casting technique is an important technique in the field of jewellery, as it saves time and expense by providing mass production in terms of competition in trade. It is not possible to produce the desired number of designs in a short time, without any change in the model and at the same time in one-handed production. It is seen that the casting technique provides this convenience.
