- Abstract
The article reports that Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta is backing a no-bid contract worth 4 billion U.S. dollars with the state-owned China Roads and Bridges Corporation (CRBC) to rebuild the Nairobi-Mombasa railway. Particular focus is given to the controversial handing over of the Kenya's flagship transport plan called the Standard Gauge Railway Project (SGRP) to the CRBC by the Kenya Railways Corporation. Details relating to the SGRP and opposition to the SGRP are presented.
