- Abstract
The article by Susanne Lachenicht titled "Mobility and Networks: On the Constitution of Space through Early Modern Diasporas" deals with the formation of spaces through early modern diasporas, particularly the Huguenots. The Huguenots were French Calvinists who constructed social, political, and spiritual spaces through their churches and assemblies in the 16th century. After the destruction of these spaces by the French crown and the flight of the Huguenots, new spaces of identification emerged in the diaspora, such as colonies, churches, and schools. Through networks and the connection of Huguenots in different countries, a new collective body was formed, creating a larger and more heterogeneous space than ever before. The article also refers to Michel de Certeau's theory of space and emphasizes the importance of the religious dimension for these collectives.
