- Abstract
The article examines the national development plan of Botswana, which describes self reliance as a foundational principles of government policy. Economic policy affects money supply, income distribution and credit and it also indicates the willingness of a state to make resources available to consumers. The primary goal of the economic policy's monetary component is to support fiscal policies in pursuing the primary objectives of macroeconomic stabilisation. The monetary policy has sought to limit the effects of external inflation on the economy, while maintaining a foreign exchange regimen and an open economy.
