- Abstract
Objective: to identify the guidelines on labor and delivery carried out during prenatal care for pregnant women. Method: This is an integrative literature review conducted through the following databases: LILACS, BDENF, PubMed, SCOPUS and Web of Science from August to November 2019. 2,694 articles were found in the databases, from which the following were excluded: 2622 after applying the search filters, 15 articles for duplication, 30 articles after reading the abstracts and 14 after reading the full text because they escaped the guiding question, and 6 articles according to the criteria of the Joanna Briggs Institute. The final sample consisted of 7 articles. Results: Most articles were published in Portuguese (86%) in 2015 (42%), with qualitative research (72%) and the population being formed, in more than half of the studies, by women in the puerperium (58 %). Conclusion: It was observed that the guidelines on labor and delivery for pregnant women are often limited to punctual transfers of information, without the concern to verify the woman's understanding. Even though it is a strong recommendation, demonstrably effective, prenatal health education still has flaws and barriers.
