- Abstract
The article presents information on some observations relating to vigour and debility in marram grass (Ammophila arenaria). It notes that the manifestation by marram grass of vigourous growth on mobile dunes and feeble growth on stable dunes has been a subject of ecological scrutiny. It explains that the rejuvenation of Ammophilia is brought about by accretion of sand far behind the foredunes and long exposed to leaching. The relation between vigour and flowering and the role of rhizomes in low-vigour colonies is discussed.
