- Abstract
The article details the evolving history of the U.S. Supreme Court's caselaw in applying the Free Exercise Clause to the restrictions on religious gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic. It traces the Court's shift from a regime that was deferential to such restrictions to one that rules in favor of the free exercise of religion. Court cases mentioned include South Bay Pentecostal Church v. Newsom, Calvary Chapel Dayton Valley Church v. Sisolak, and Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn v. Cuomo.
