- Abstract
This research aimed to develop the mapping of climate suitability for the crop of sugarcane to the State of Paraíba using the moisture content. The methodology for the calculation of rainfall, we used the data of the monthly total rainfall obtained from pluviometric posts with twenty or more years of observations. The average air temperature were estimated by Estima_T software. In calculating the water balance was used to water storage field capacity of the soil 100 mm proposed by Thornthwaite and Mather, prepared the moisture content of calculation, potential evapotranspiration and evaluation of climate potential sugar cane culture. The state of Paraiba has variability of climate order for the cultivation of sugar cane in its territory with significant differences in the territorial extension of classes; climate fitness class Full with prolonged rainy season, the class and Full Moderate by water deficiency occur along the coast and in the Paraiba Heath region and relate to occurrence of rainfall patterns; the inapt class occurs across the semiarid region and Agreste because the water requirements of the crop; because the work scale used (1: 200,000), small areas not mapped may be used for the culture of sugar cane.
