- Abstract
The article presents a reprint of the article "The Irony of Faith: Sholom Aleichem's "Dreyfus in Kasrilevke," by Joseph Sherman, which appeared in the summer 1994 issue of "Jewish Affairs." The article discusses the persecution of Alfred Dreyfus during 1894-1906 as the most severe test to the faith of the Jews in Eastern Europe during the period. It also cites the writings of Sholom Aleichem that chronicles the impact of the Dreyfus case on the survival of the Jews.
