- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a female newborn, delivered extremely prematurely at 26 weeks, who developed subglottic stenosis after prolonged mechanical ventilation. Topics discussed include the challenges of diagnosing subglottic stenosis in low birthweight infants using flexible laryngoscopy, the utility of rigid laryngoscopy under general anesthesia for accurate diagnosis, and the recurrence of stenosis despite laser treatment, ultimately leading to tracheostomy.
