- Title
Dragonfly Populations at Eniwetok Atoll.
- Authors
Jackson, William B.
- Abstract
The article reports on the population of dragonfly at Eniwetok Atoll in Marshall Islands. The presence of dragonflies in the area depends on fresh water pools found in the place. It is indicated that the presence of dragonflies has caused some puzzlement in four summers between 1964-1967. The populations might have bred in trenches or shell craters. It is unlikely that on Engebi dragonflies in any stage of their life history survived the major nuclear tests conducted nearby because of the combined impact of intense heat, radiation and tidal waves.
