- Abstract
The climatological water balance (BHC) proposed by Thornthwaite e Mather (1955) is an useful tool for agricultural planning. This method requires the soil water holding capacity (CAD), rainfall and potential evapotranspiration (ETP) data as input. The outputs consist in water deficit (DEF), water surplus (EXC) and actual evapotranspiration (ETR). However, CAD values strongly influences DEF, EXC and ETR values. The objective of this paper was evaluate spatial interpolation techniques to create maps of DEF, EXC and ETR using six different CAD values (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 300 mm) at Espírito Santo State, Brazil. Results show that exponential kriging has better interpolation performance to DEF, EXC and ETR considering all the CAD values. It was also observed that the interpolation performance gets worse when the higher was the CAD value.
