- Abstract
This article describes a case of simultaneous gastric and colonic erosion from a gastric band in a 61-year-old white woman who underwent laparoscopic gastric banding. A routine colonoscopy found that a foreign body has been eroding into the colon and an upper endoscopy revealed that the band had eroded into the lumen of the stomach as well. The patient underwent an exploratory laparotomy, removal of the lap band and takedown of the gastrocolic fistula.
