- Abstract
The article discusses the association of Alexander the Great, king of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon, from Jerusalem to Timbukto, Mali through national narratives. Topics mentioned include the motif of Alexander in the Sunjata narrative, the repository of Mandinke oral epic was described by specialists and anthropologists in Africa, and the devaluation of the political potency and historical authenticity of the story of Sunjata, the hero of an African epic.
