- Authors
Moore, Shelley C.
- Abstract
The prevalence of endometriosis is estimated to be 10-15 % of reproductive- age females around the world, affecting 176 million (Johnson et al., 2017). There are multiple explanations for the pathophysiology of pain and infertility associated with endometriosis. There are numerous medical treatments, both on and off label. Surgery, although effective in the short term, most often is plagued by recurrence. Considered a benign disease, endometriosis is under researched, therefore its victims are under served. This article offers a practical overview on endometriosis, its treatments, and complications in pregnancy.
