- Abstract
The aim of this study is to determine opinions and practices of Turkish teachers towards the teaching process of reflective thinking skill. Thus, it was aimed to gain in-depth information about the teaching process of reflective thinking skill, which is seen as both high-level thinking and a daily life skill, in Turkish lessons and to evaluate this process. In this framework, qualitative research approach was used in the study and the study was designed as a qualitative case study. Depending on the method that was used, a study group was formed during the research process. The relevant working group consists of 14 Turkish teachers working in public secondary schools in central districts of Gaziantep. The data of the study were collected by interview method, one of the qualitative data collection methods. In this sense, a semi-structured interview form developed by the researchers was used. The obtained data were analyzed by content analysis, one of the qualitative data analysis methods. Teachers consider reflective thinking skill important in terms of knowledge transfer, awareness and assessment skills; It was determined that they found the textbooks insufficient at the point of teaching this skill. However, it was determined that most of the participant teachers did not perform applications for teaching reflective thinking skills in course and did not use technology in this regard. Likewise, it was concluded that teachers lacked knowledge and experience in measuring reflective thinking skills.
