- Abstract
The article discusses the causes of eye diseases in animals such as epiphora, blepharospasm, conjunctival hyperaemia, chemosis or even corneal ulceration. Plant material is the most common cause found in animals being transported in open trailers or kept in windy areas or the presence of Thelazia species parasites. Yet, an unusual cause is the presence of conjunctival foreign bodies in a suckler herd which was caused by the seed of the weed barren brome in large-bale haylage.
