The article focuses on the symposium "Fractured Communities: Hydraulic Fracturing and the Law in New York State" sponsored by the journal in September 2013. Topics of discussion included were interaction between gas leases, residential mortgages, and the secondary mortgage market by Karen Moreau of New York State Petroleum Council, risks of high-volume hydraulic fracturing by Sorell E. Negro of law firm Robinson & Cole and the U.S. court case of Norse Energy Corp. USA v. Town of Dryden.
