- Authors
Popov, Todor A.; Emberlin, Jean; Church, Martin K.; Åberg, Nils; Josling, Peter
- Abstract
The authors discuss a report on the impact of cellulose powder on human nasal epithelial cell activity and ciliary beat frequency. Topics mentioned include the low level of approximation given by the report's experimental air-liquid interface culture model, the weakest point of ex vivo models based on homogenized tissue and cell suspensions, and changes in the composition of the mucus and of its fluid phase under different physiological and pathological conditions.
