The article focuses on the management of dementia through neurosurgery in Rhode Island. It informs that Idiopathic Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (iNPH) is a condition of disturbed cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) dynamics. It states that aging population is at risk for the development of iNPH and is associated with much co-morbidity. It discusses the treatment of iNPH which are surgical and venticulo-peritoneal shunts. It mentions the European iNPH study which proves that the outcome of shunting is not influence by the co-morbidity of dementia. It presents the identification of the markers and clinical diagnostic criteria important to the co-morbidity.
