The article discusses strategies that can be used by an accountant with small and medium enterprises (SME) clients who need guidance on how to account for uncommon transactions, such as debt-equity rules, off-market share buy-backs cancellations and trust distributions. It presents three financial scenarios that could end up in a professional indemnity claim or practising sanctions from the accountant's accountancy body or the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB).
