- Abstract
The article examines the implications of several extrasolar planet discoveries in the search of extraterrestrial life. It notes the role of events called transits, that occur when a planet passes one's sightline, in the spectroscopical analysis of exoplanet atmospheres and chemical signatures of life. It cites the revelation of water, methane, and carbon dioxide during the transit of Jupiter-sized exoplanets. It mentions the Kepler mission of National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA).
