The sporadic flowering of six introduced woody bamboos in Brazil (Bambusa tuldoides. B. vulgaris, Phyllostachys aurea, P. bambusoides, Sinarundinaria falcata) is reported. In a single case of these flowering episodes caryopsis formation was documented (in Bambusa tuldoides). The reasons for such sporadic seed formation is discussed and suggestions for future research is made.
