- Abstract
A case study of a 36-year-old man with a diagnosis of bipolar I man suffering from an acute manic episode after ingestion of the energy drink Red Bull is presented. It states that Red Bull includes a mixture of the psychoactive ingredients caffeine, taurine, and inositol and mentions its clinical administration was associated with induced mania. It comments on the man's increasing mania after drinking Red Bull despite compliance with lithium therapy due possibly to increased levels of inositol.
