- Abstract
The article focuses on the works of poet Geoffrey Chaucer and their relation to the language of contemporary preaching. The author analyzes several poems from Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales," including "The Pardoner's Prologue, "The Wife of Bath's Tale," and "The Reeve's Tale," argues that his poetry was influenced by sermons, and suggests that he used this technique to develop the characters of preachers in his work.
