- Title
Optical inspection of coarsely meshed fabric.
- Abstract
The article offers a look at the approach taken by Phoenix Dichtungstechnik GmbH in producing high-quality roofing membranes. It is important that the reinforcement fabric is free of defects since it has an impact on the tear strength of the final product. Thus, the reinforcement fabric is subject to a reception inspection. The GridInspector by OSIF GmbH, which the company has been using since 2007, inspects the reinforcement in transmitted light with a maximum inspection speed of 145 meters (m)/minute. It is capable of identifying 14 different defect kinds, such as weft and warp defects, holes, closed meshes, foreign particles, fluff and skewed edges. The advantages of lowering the defect rates include reduce waste and subsequent work and enhanced quality.
